On our doorstep
Séguret, in the Vaucluse region of Provence, is known for mouthwatering wines, amazing Roman ruins, beautiful villages and exceptional scenery. Whether you want to explore its ancient or medieval towns and villages, enjoy dramatic views from mountain and valley trails of the nearby Dentelles de Montmirail or sample fabulous wines at the countless vineyards that litter the countryside, you'll be treated to an exquisite taste of Provence.
The best of France, within a stone's throw
Four delightful villages surround Séguret, all five renowned for their AOC Côtes du Rhone Villages wines. Sablet, Rasteau, Roaix and Gigondas are all just minutes away. If you'd prefer even more prestigious wines, Châteauneuf-du-Pape is less than a half hour away.
Vaison-la-Romaine, the jewel of Roman Provence is just 9 kms away, offering fascinating architecture from both Roman and medieval times as well as a major market on Tuesday mornings. Orange also is close, with its famous Roman theater and another enticing market on Thursday mornings.
Avignon's famous bridge and its Palais des Papes with its immensely rich history and architecture are less than an hour away.
When we first came to Séguret, we knew the village was beautiful, but what came as a bountiful surprise was how much beauty could be found very nearby. The little road behind our village winds its way to Vaison-la-Romaine through a beautiful valley littered with vineyards, Mont Ventoux being the backdrop.
Les Dentelles de Montmirail are even more beautiful than the wonderful view they present from Séguret. Three ranges offer countless hiking trails, vistas with exquisite villages where you can pause for lunch or a just glass; Suzette, Lafare, La Roque Alric or Le Barroux with its ancient chateau.
Go the other way past Vaison to discover the exquisite hilltop villages of Crestet, Entrechaux, Faucon, Le Vieux Village, Brantes, Montbrun-les-Bains and more. This is secret Provence hidden behind Mont Ventoux and all very close, which most tourists never discover.
Extraordinary natural beauty awaits at Mont Ventoux, Les Gorges de l'Ardèche, and Les Cevennes, not to mention the postcard pretty vineyards and lavender fields that cover the landscape like a patchwork quilt.
Pont du Gard, (58km) is a Unesco world heritage monument and one of France's 3 most popular sites (after the Eiffel Tower and Mont St-Michel), built 2,000 years ago to flow water 160 feet over the Gard River from Uzès on its 50 kms journey to service the Roman city of Nîmes.
Don't miss our favourite épicerie full of local flavours and both outstanding bakeries at Sablet, just 2 km away.
